The city of Krk is considered to be one of the oldest in the Adriatic. It was settled by the Romans on the southwest coast of the island and is the historical seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Krk.
On the famous Kramplin square, in the town centre, many cultural events are taking place, evening concerts, theatre plays and jazz festivals. Specially interesting is the Stanic gallery, in which you can see the excavated layers of city's history, starting from the early Roman period. The remains of the ancient, 1st century Roman thermes are very well preserved and are located between the small city gates and Vela placa.
