Lumbarda

Lumbarda has an incredibly long histoy as a summer resort for the priesthood and the rich landlords of the region. Overlooking many islets, it is situated on the slops of a hill, next to the valley covered in vineyards. The old vineyards produce world known wines Grk and Plavac mali, as well as the herb brandy.

Since the 16th century, sandy, rocky and pebble beaches around Lumbarda had attracted wealthy who built many mansions and castles in the area, many of which are still in use, as private homes. The most admirable castles are Nobilo, Milina and Krsinic castle. Of particular interest is the 16th century Sv. Kric church, recnostructed in 1774, featuring a famous porch. Unique red sand beach located by the village, is one more reason for you to come and visit Lumbarda.
