Ploce
By the exceptionally furtile Neretva river delta, lies a small town of Ploce. Mentioned for the first time in 1387, Ploce has been an important port ever since. Second busiest in Croatia, the port is a main source of living of locals, followed by farming. Area around the city, Neretva delta, aka Croatian California, is watered by the river and with warm sun shining most of the year, it was a home of all the lemon, tangerines, watermellons, plums, tomatos and many other fruit and vegetables in Croatia. Many fish and birds inhabit the area, so fishing and hunting tourism is highly devepoled, as well.
