Island of Kolocep
Centuries old pine, carob, olive, orange and lemon trees growing above the stunningly attractive beaches are the main reasons island Kolocep is one of the favorite summer resorts of Dubrovnik's citizens. There are two villages on the island, Donje and Gornje Selo, connected by the narrow trail running through olive tree grows and colorful gardens. Throughout the island there are many historical sites that make it a place of significant cultural importance as well, mainly 16th century churches, chapels, forts and mansions. Locals use the old name for the island, Kalamota, glorifying the times when their men were part of the Columbus' St. Maria ship crew.
