Umag
Umag, a small coastal town on the Istrian coast, got its world fame, mostly, thanks to the ATP tennis tournament, being held annually since 1990. There are many other sport activites for you to engage in, like football, biking, hunting, volleyball, basketball, sialing, water skiing, wind kiting and many more. Not only sports make this town fascinating, many of astonishing beaches in the vicinity of Umag are blue flagged, Laguna Stella Maris, Katoro, Aurora and Kanegra being the most famous. Umag has a rich histoy to tell, as well. Even older than the old town's churches, is the recently found sank ship, dating 1000 years BC, and the stone age settlement in the sea in front of Umag. The old city began as a Rome's summer resort which is reflected on the decorative architecture of venetian villas that make the most of old city's core. Admirable beauty of the city and nature surrounding it, rich tradition and the warm Mediterranean climate make Umag a favorable place to visit.
