Cres

The city of Cres grew out of a safe harbour hidden from waves in a sheltering bay. Having a port of such safety allowed Cres' citizens to rapidly develop fishing, sailing and ship-building skills. Even today, the unique virtue of the bay attracts many people, so the marina was built there, too. Surrounding the city are olive grows, centuries old, providing the world famous Cres olive oil. Typical Mediterranean narrow streets of the city form a maze, with many locals selling excellent home-made cheese and olives products by the road.
