Vrana Lake
The heart of island Cres is the Vrana lake. Huge fresh water lake enables the life on the island to go on for centuries.
74,5m deep, the crytodepression's surface is 13m above sea level, and the lake contains over 2 million m3 of fresh water, enough to supply the citizens of Cres and neighbouring Losinj island, even during summer period. Rich with under water life, it is inhabited by carp, pike, tench and, mysteriously, eels. Direct access to the lake is not possible anymore, in order to preserve the quaility of drinking water.
