Milna
Founded in 17th century, Milna is the largest, safest and most beautiful port on Brac island. Village grew around the Cerinic family castle, who also raised a church and a fortress. Milna got world famous for being a russian fleet base harbour during the Napoleon wars, and by its old shipyard where the prototype of Dalmatian ship bracera was built. Long naval tradition reflects in the building of two lovely marinas nearby, which host many sailors drawn by the clear blue sea.
An interesting traditional event is taking place every year in Milna, the pulling of rope called "potezanje Mrduje". Event honours the old argument of residents of Brac and Solta, who fought over the right on Mrduja islet, located between their islands.
