Sali

Sali is the largest city on Dugi Otok, located on southeastern coast of the island. With recorded tradition of over a thousand years of fishing, Sali is also a place of long history in olive oil production. Priceless olive trees in Saljsko polje, many of which are over 700 years old, are one of the symbols of Sali and are proteced as a botanical reserve. Local library honours the tradition by hosting presentations of various local dishes and concerts of clasical music. Famous throughout the Adriatic is the "Saljske uzance", 3 day long event of enjoying the music, food, wine and company of friends and locals. Churches Sv. Rok, Sv. Nikola and the 17th century Sv. Djevica Marija are the most attractive sacral monuments in Sali, definately worth visiting.
