Island of Murter
Island of Murter has been living a peaceful life, ever since the ancinet times, when it had been settled by the Illyrs. Lyburns and Romans, both, took their turns on living in the city, leaving behind them many valuable historical and cultural monuments and remains.
Nature of Murter is colorful and incredibly diverse. Sea is filled with reefs, caves, channels and pits, and the land is home to many Adriatic animals and plants. Exceptionally interesting sea life makes Murter island one of the top spots for scuba diving in the Adriatic. Equally appealing are the local beaches who attract large numbers of visitors, every year. Population of the island is mostly engaged in farming, fishing and olive oil production, which is why the cuisine of Murter is a true delight.
Apart from the island centre, city of Murter, Betina, Tisno and Jezera are the biggest and most interesting tourist destinations of the island. Huge marina situated in the Murter bay offers 350 sea docks and 170 shore docks.
